This Week’s Horror Releases: 17th June

The Exorcism

In selected cinemas from Friday 21st June. Dir: Joshua John Miller. Starring: Russell Crowe, Ryan Simpkins, Sam Worthington.

A troubled actor begins to exhibit a disruptive behaviour while shooting a horror film. His estranged daughter wonders if he’s slipping back into his past addictions or if there’s something more sinister at play.


Five Nights at Freddy’s (2023)

Now From Friday 21st June. Dir: Emma Tammi. Starring: Josh Hutcherson, Piper Rubio, Elizabeth Lail.

A troubled security guard begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. During his first night on the job, he realizes that the night shift won’t be so easy to get through. Pretty soon he will unveil what actually happened at Freddy’s.

Houseboat Horror (1989)

Shudder From Monday 17th June. Dirs: Kendal Flanagan & Ollie Martin. Starring: Alan Dale, Christine Jeston, Craig Alexander.

When a music video shoot on the seemingly tranquil Lake Infinity turns into a smorgasbord of horror, death and blood-gushing mayhem, it can only mean one thing… ACID HEAD, a horribly scarred axe-wielding maniac with a grudge against interlopers is on the loose!

Inn of the Damned (1975)

Shudder From Monday 17th June. Dir: Terry Bourke. Starring: Judith Anderson, Alex Cord, Michael Craig.

A sheriff investigates why the guests at a local hostelry check in but never check out.

Body Melt (1993)

Shudder From Monday 10th June. Dir: Philip Brophy. Starring: Gerard Kennedy, Andrew Daddo, Ian Smith.

Residents of peaceful Pebbles Court, Homesville, are being used unknowingly as test experiments for a new ‘Body Drug’ that causes rapid body decomposition (melting skin etc.) and painful death.

Gateway (2021)

Shudder From Saturday 15th June. Dir: Niall Owens. Starring: Tim Creed, Fiona Hardy, Ryan McParland.

In an ordinary abandoned house – On what could be your ordinary street – A gang of desperate criminals have found something – or has it found them.

Joko Anwar’s Nightmares and Daydreams: Season 1

Netflix From Friday 14th June. Creator: Joko Anwar. Starring: Asmara Abigail, Ario Bayu, Marissa Anita.

Joko Anwar’s new supernatural sci-fi chronicles the journey of a group of ordinary people trying to save humanity from those who wish to take over the world. The story is told across seven episodes, each spotlighting a key character dealing with extraordinary events that span from 1985 to 2024. While seemingly random, these peculiar incidents are interconnected, offering insights into the origins of our world and the looming threats to humanity.

Netflix From Friday 14th June. Dir: Jordan Peele. Starring: Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Brandon Perea.

The residents of a lonely gulch in inland California bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.
