Black Sunday Film Festival Announces ‘Midsummer Scream’ Line Up

Calling all indie horror heroes!

Black Sunday Film Festival are once again heading back to spook out Chelmsford, and this time it’s for a one-day mini-fest. This is the Black Sunday Film Festival Midsummer Scream, and we’re delighted to be one of the sponsors!

Taking place at the Chelmsford Odeon on Saturday, 20th July, the Black Sunday team will be bringing you a day jam-packed with some incredible horror features and short films from some of the best indie filmmakers the world has to offer.

The day is split into five blocks, starting at 10am. Each block has one headline feature, with a selection of short films set to play before each.

You can grab a full day ticket now for just £25, which will get you access to every film. There’s also a smaller number of single tickets available for each block for just £10. And for all attendees, there’s an afterparty at the brilliant Voodoo Keller bar, from 9pm till late!

Block 1: 10:00am – 12:15pm:

SIGIL (UK Premiere) 111 mins

Two girls unknowingly conjure a witch while celebrating their anniversary in the countryside.

Block 2: 12:45pm – 2:45pm:

HAUNTED ULSTER LIVE (Essex Premiere) 80 mins

Dir: Dominic O’Neill. Starring: Aimee Richardson, Mark Claney, Siobhan Kelly.

On Halloween night, Gerry Burns teams up with popular children’s presenter Michelle Kelly to investigate poltergeist activity in a haunted house in Belfast.

Block 3: 3:15pm – 5:15pm:

THE BUILDOUT (UK Premiere) 75 mins

Dir: Zeshaan Younus. Starring: Jenna Kanell, Hannah Alline, Natasha Halevi.

A friendship is tested as two women experience something strange in the desert.

Block 4: 6pm – 8pm:

CUSTOM (Essex Premiere) 76 mins

Dir: Tiago Teixeira. Starring: Abigail Hardingham, Rowan Polonski, Brad Moore.

A couple producing custom erotic films is dragged into a nightmarish conspiracy when they start working for a mysterious client.
